Chelsea To Finally Launch Bid For £80m-Rated Premier League Star

It looks as if an official bid for Moises Caicedo from Chelsea could finally be happening, with Sky Sports reporting that the Blues will "formalise" their interest in the player shortly.

What are the latest Chelsea transfer rumours?

The Premier League side have got plenty of irons in the oven it seems, with numerous players all linked with potential transfers to Stamford Bridge. They've already brought in Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku for their first-team squad and yet the rumours have not stopped. Instead, it appears the business may now be in full flow for Mauricio Pochettino's side, as they look to rebuild the squad after last season's meltdown.

At one end of the pitch, Chelsea appear to be keen to bring in more goalkeeping reinforcements. At the top of their list in that area seems to be Diogo Costa, with a recent report suggesting Jorge Mendes is now on the case in terms of a deal. The Blues have recruited the agent to help them snap up the Porto man and are now pushing to get a transfer done.

They've also placed Federico Valverde on their wanted list, although there is no offer on the table yet for the Real Madrid player.

Are Chelsea signing Moises Caicedo?

However, it is Moises Caicedo who has arguably dominated headlines when it comes to Chelsea transfers recently. One report suggested that a deal worth £70m could happen for the Brighton man, whilst another added that the Blues have already spoken to the Seagulls ahead of a potential move.

Now, according to Sky Sports, Chelsea are indeed ready to kick things up a gear when it comes to Caicedo. They plan to "formalise" their interest in the player soon and in another boost for fans of the club, it seems as though once a fee has been agreed, the midfielder himself will have no issue with joining them. Instead, they are being "encouraged" by the Ecuador man in regards to whether or not he would agree personal terms – so it is positive news for the Blues in their pursuit of the 21-year-old talent.

With no official bid made yet, it isn't clear how much Caicedo would cost Chelsea as part of a move. However, other reports have suggested that an offer may be worth around £80m and that could be enough to land the midfielder. That fee is not fixed though and could vary when talks officially open between the Seagulls and the Blues.

Whatever fee the club have to pay for the 21-year-old could be worth it though, with the youngster viewed as having a lot of potential, whilst also already playing at an incredible level. Football talent scout Jacek Kulig stated that Caicedo is already a "high quality" option in the middle of the field and that he is a "big fan" of the Brighton man. It shows that the Ecuador starlet is already catching the eye – and a move to Stamford Bridge could really bolster Chelsea's midfield as they look to improve in the Premier League next season.

Celtic: Rodgers Can Find Ralston 2.0 In 17 y/o Prodigy

Celtic officially confirmed that captain Callum McGregor put pen to paper on a new five-year contract with the Scottish giants earlier this week.

The 30-year-old central midfielder has been with the club since the age of nine, when he joined the academy, and has won 20 trophies at Parkhead, including a world-leading five trebles.

McGregor should be an inspiration for players coming through the youth team set-up in Glasgow as he has proven what can be accomplished if you put your head down and remain loyal to the Hoops throughout your career.

He is not the only academy graduate in the first-team squad, though, as right-back Anthony Ralston has played 85 senior matches since breaking through.

The Scotland international, who enjoyed three loan spells away from Paradise before making his mark at Celtic, has made 44 Scottish Premiership appearances since the start of the 2021/22 campaign.

Celtic defender Anthony Ralston.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is seemingly using pre-season to see if he can spot the next talent to emerge from the youth team as the likes of Josh Dede, Daniel Kelly, Mackenzie Carse, and Bruno Davidson have all been spotted training with the senior group.

What position does Josh Dede play in?

The 17-year-old prospect previously played as a right winger but is now predominantly deployed as a right-back, with the Celtic's official website having him down as a defender.

Journalist Lewis Laird claimed that the full-back has an "exciting future" ahead of him in the game, which is backed up by his emergence for the B team in spite of his young age.

Manager Tommy McIntyre stated at the end of the 2021/22 campaign that the talented gem has a "big future" and said that Dede, along with his teammates, will play if they are good enough, irrespective of their age or experience.

The right-back seemingly did enough to convince his coach that he was good enough to play for the B team as the teenage prodigy racked up 15 Lowland League appearances, which means that the youngster has played men's football in the fifth tier of the Scottish pyramid.

Only 16-year-old Corey Thomson played in 15 or more matches below the age of 17, with a number of 18 and 19-year-old starlets competing for positions across the team, which highlights how impressive Dede's emergence in the side was.

The 17-year-old battler has also done enough to become a regular for Scotland at U17 level, with 11 caps since his debut in March of last year, which shows how highly he is rated by his coaches on the international scene.

His form for the academy has clearly caught the eye of Rodgers as the Northern Irish tactician has brought the promising defender into the first team for pre-season training, potentially with a view to using him in one of the friendlies to see how he fares in a senior environment.

Therefore, the Celtic head coach could unearth the club's next Ralston as Dede is an emerging right-back who could make the step up if he is able to continue his development in the months and years to come, given his impressive progression so far.

Aston Villa: £20.6m Wilfried Gnonto Update

Aston Villa are still keen on signing Leeds United youngster Wilfried Gnonto this summer, but Everton appear to be ahead of them in the race.

What's the latest Aston Villa transfer news?

The Villans had such an enjoyable second-half of last season, excelling with Unai Emery at the helm and eventually finishing seventh in the Premier League, qualifying for the UEFA Europa Conference League in the process. It was a run of form that few saw coming, but they are now in a position where they can improve even further this summer.

Youri Tielemans and Pau Torres have already completed exciting-looking moves to Villa Park, which has the potential to make Emery's team more formidable, but it would be a big surprise if their spending stopped there.

Another player who has been linked with a summer move to the club is Gnonto, who caught the eye for Leeds last term, standing out as a rare spark in an otherwise confidence-sapping campaign for the Whites. The young Italian scored twice and got four assists in the league, and was arguably one of the few players at Elland Road who looked like providing some attacking magic during games.

Now, a new update has emerged regarding the 19-year-old's future, with Villa still in the mix to sign him, but certainly not having things their own way.

Who is signing Wilfried Gnonto?

According to Sport Mediaset [via Sport Witness], Gnonto has the option to join either Villa or Everton this summer, with an exit from Leeds expected due to their relegation to the Championship.

It is stated that the Villans will have to "exceed" the Blues' bid for the winger, however, if they want to have a chance of pipping them to his signature, which is €18m plus €6m in bonuses (£20.6m total). NSWE have made contact with the player and talks could possibly intensify in the coming days.

While Gnonto may not be a guaranteed starter for Villa next season, unlike immediate key men in Tielemans and Torres, he could still be a fantastic signing who is viewed as a long-term addition with a high ceiling.

The Leeds ace has won 12 caps for Italy, despite not yet turning 20 – Leeds coach Michael Skubala has also described him as "special" – and he did enough in a struggling team last term to show what he is capable of in wide areas, combining quick feet, blistering pace and end product that will only improve with age.

With all due respect to Everton, they could again find themselves in a relegation battle for a third year in a row, whereas Villa really do look like they are going places under Emery, making strong signings, having plenty of money to spend and looking to even push for a top-six finish in the Premier League in 2023/24.

They are the more exciting proposition, but the one potential issue is that the Merseysiders could promise him more regular football from the off, which could appeal to Gnonto at this stage in his career, rather than warming the substitutes' bench and having to accept Emery's rotation across four competitions.

Newcastle Could Sign Wijnaldum 2.0 At St James’ Park

With Newcastle United's pre-season preparations now in full swing, Eddie Howe has strengthened his squad with the additions of Harvey Barnes and Sandro Tonali this summer.

What players have Newcastle been linked with?

Financial Fair Play constraints mean Newcastle cannot go out and buy every player they like the look of, so the Magpies have to be smart with who exactly they move for beyond Barnes and Tonali.

From full-backs Kieran Tierney and Tino Livramento to central midfielders Scott McTominay and Conor Gallagher, there are no shortage of players the Magpies are said to be interested in.

Another name that has regularly popped up of late is Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, who could be on his way out of the Allianz Arena – where he is on wages of £152k-a-week, according to Capology – after just one season.

As journalist Rudy Galtetti told GIVEMESPORT, Newcastle are one of the clubs "showing the greatest interest" in the youngster, though any deal with Bayern would be tough to agree.

What position does Ryan Gravenberch play?

Gravenberch spent eight years in Ajax's famed academy before making his senior debut in September 2018, at which point he became the Dutch giants' youngest-ever player in Eredivisie at 16 years and 130 days, surpassing a certain Clarence Seedorf.

The now-21-year-old went on to make a little over 100 appearances for Ajax prior to joining Bayern last summer in a reported €18.5m (£16m) upfront transfer that could rise to €24m (£20m).

However, Gravenberch started just three Bundesliga games for Bayern in his debut season in Bavaria, while appearing a further 21 times from the substitutes' bench.

That lack of playing time is made all the more surprising when you consider the impact Gravenberch had when he was on the field. Indeed, as per FBref's player comparison model, the Dutchman registered very similar figures to Jude Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund last season.

That is quite the company to be in considering Bellingham recently joined Real Madrid for an initial fee of £88.5m.

Signing a player of that quality would be very much welcome from Newcastle's perspective, but links with Gravenberch bring back memories of another Magpies player in Georginio Wijnaldum.

Georginio Wijnaldum

There are plenty of similarities between Gravenberch and Wijnaldum, not least that they are both Netherlands internationals, both play in midfield and both showed plenty of potential at an early age.

Wijnaldum was three years older than Gravenberch when making the move from PSV to Newcastle in 2015 – the first arrival under head coach Steve McClaren, and the highest fee paid at the time for a player under the Mike Ashley stewardship.

That is not to say they are like-for-like players, given Wijnaldum is far more attack-minded than his compatriot. That is reflected in the data, as the former Liverpool midfielder scored 14 goals in his final season in Eredivisie, whereas Gravenberch scored just twice.

Both players had a stature that belied their age during their time in their homeland, though, as Wijnaldum captained PSV for a period before moving on, while Gravenberch skippered Ajax's age-grade sides.

Brian Tevreden, the man who made Gravenberch captain of the U15s when aged just 12, previously described the youngster – via Goal.com – as "a better version than [Paul] Pogba in his best days at Juventus", and a "very dominant" player on the pitch.

Newcastle have a great history of signing Dutch players, from Wijnaldum to Patrick Kluivert, and it may well be that Gravenberch is the next to arrive at St James' Park.

Celtic: Rodgers Can Instantly Unlock Yang With Swoop To Sign £6.9m Marksman

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has been backed by the club since his return to Parkhead as the Northern Irish tactician has been able to make four first-team signings to date.

Who have Celtic signed this summer?

The Scottish Sun previously reported that the head coach would be given a £30m transfer budget to bolster his squad during the summer transfer window.

So far, an undisclosed chunk of that has been spent on Norwegian midfielder Odin Thiago Holm and Australia international Marco Tilio, alongside South Korean duo Kyeok-kyu Kwon and Hyun-jun Yang.

This means that Rodgers has moved swiftly to add players to his midfield options as all four of those gems either play in the middle of the park or out wide predominantly.

The Hoops could yet add a third striker to their roster to compete with Kyogo Furuhashi and Hyeon-gyu Oh and one centre-forward who has been linked with the club this year is Anastasios Douvikas, who has reportedly been valued at £6.9m.

How many goals did Anastasios Douvikas score last season?

Goals were not hard to come by for the Greek international throughout the 2022/23 campaign as he found the back of the net 19 times in 24 Eredivisie starts for FC Utrecht.

Meanwhile, Kyogo was the only Celtic player who scored more than 11 Scottish Premiership goals last season as the Japan international plundered an outstanding 27 strikes.

However, it is Douvikas' creativity that could make him an interesting signing for Celtic as Rodgers could instantly unlock new addition Hyun-jun Yang by pairing the South Korea U23 international with the Utrecht ace.

Greek international Anastasios Douvikas.

The former Gangwon star is a goalscoring winger who provides more of a threat with his ability to find the net than he does as a creator from out wide.

During the 2022 K League 1 campaign, Yang scored eight goals and created five in 33 starts.

This shows that the 21-year-old prospect has the potential to be a reliable scorer for Rodgers as only two current Hoops players – Liel Abada (ten) and Kyogo (27) – managed more than eight Premiership goals last season.

Having a striker with the ability to create opportunities for his fellow attackers could benefit the recent arrival as it would provide him with the chances he needs in front of goal to make a mark in Scotland.

Douvikas is a player who has proven himself to be capable of being that type of centre-forward as the 23-year-old forward created seven 'big chances' in 24 Eredivisie starts last term, which came after he produced seven in 28 league starts during the 2021/22 campaign.

Whereas, Kyogo created one 'big chance' in 31 Premiership starts and Oh managed one in 16 appearances after his move to the club in January.

This suggests that Douvikas would provide far more creativity from a no.9 position than any of the head coach's current options in that role.

Therefore, the "sharp" – as he was once dubbed by journalist Josh Bunting – marksman could be the perfect foil for Yang due to his knack for setting up others for 'big chances' in front of goal to give them a great opportunity to score, whilst also being able to carry a significant threat of his own.

Everton Could Sign £14m Calvert-Lewin Successor

Everton have been strongly linked with a move for Brian Brobbey this summer, and now a new update has emerged on the club's pursuit of the player.

How much is Brian Brobbey worth?

According to BBC Sport, Everton remain keen on signing the Ajax striker this summer.

As per the report, Sean Dyche still desperately needs attacking reinforcements after a poor Premier League season and it is claimed that deals are still being pursued to sign both Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto and Brobbey this summer.

The player is currently valued at £14m, as per Football Transfers.

Who is Brian Brobbey?

It is clear that strengthening the attacking third is a huge priority for the Everton hierarchy ahead of the return to action in the Premier League next month, and it may now become an even bigger urgency after reports this week revealed that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is attracting interest.

It was claimed in the Italian media that AS Roma are keen to replace Tammy Abraham with the Toffees talisman, however, the Daily Mail revealed that Everton have no intentions of letting their striker go this summer.

Indeed, the departures of Anthony Gordon and Richarlison have left Dyche will few quality and experienced options to unleash in his forward line, but there is no denying that Calvert-Lewin has become an unreliable and inconsistent feature at Goodison Park.

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Over the last two seasons, the £100k-per-week forward has spent 203 days in recovery for various injury issues and has only managed to play 36 games in all competitions – scoring just seven goals and delivering three assists during that period – which led to concerns from former player Stan Collymore last season:

"These are worrying times for Dominic Calvert-Lewin There’s no denying it – Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injuries are becoming a major problem."

"Everton and Sean Dyche can’t afford to wait on their main striker to be fit. The position they’re in now means they need someone to be fit, available and performing consistently."

As a result, the signing of Brobbey could present Everton with a golden opportunity to part ways with the injury-prone Englishman, bolster transfer funds and provide Dyche with a trustworthy centre-forward who can contribute consistently.

Over 32 league appearances last season, the 21-year-old – hailed a "great talent" by compatriot and Netherlands teammate Virgil van Dijk – scored 13 goals, registered three assists and created four big chances – an output no Everton player managed to match in all competitions last season, let alone in the Premier League, with top-scorer Dwight McNeil scoring seven.

brian-brobbey-ajax-premier-league-everton-transfers

Not only that, the Dutchman ranks in the top 15% of his positional peers across the leagues most similar to the Eredivisie for shots on goal, pass completion, touches and progressive passes recieved, as per FBref, proving that he is a huge and enviable presence to have in front of goal.

With that being said, it would be a no-brainer for Everton to snap up the services of Brobbey this summer, as he could be a worthy successor to Calvert-Lewin and significantly improve the threat and consistency in the final third.

Man Utd Make Offer For "Underrated" £43m Titan

Manchester United will be looking at making further progress this season under Erik ten Hag, especially with Champions League football gracing the Old Trafford pitch once again.

Summer signings include Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund, as the Dutchman has strengthened in key areas.

The one thing missing is another defender, yet it appears as though the Red Devils have launched a move for Barcelona centre-back Andreas Christensen in a bid to bolster their backline.

Could Manchester United sign Andreas Christensen?

According to reports in Spain (via Football 365), United have made an offer for Christensen in order to lure him back to the Premier League this summer.

Read the latest Man United transfer news HERE…

Ten Hag is said to have made a bid of €50m (£43m), albeit with that bid including certain add-ons and 'variables'. The La Liga side are open to selling the Danish defender for €50m, however they want the entire sum to be fixed and this could potentially derail any move.

It’s clear that United need at least another centre-back this summer, especially with Harry Maguire set to depart the club before the transfer window shuts.

Will Harry Maguire leave Manchester United?

The Englishman endured a difficult campaign during 2022/23, making just eight Premier League starts under Ten Hag. He ranked in a lowly 18th position across the whole squad for tackles per game (0.5), while also ranking eighth for interceptions per game (0.8), suggesting that even when he did play, his influence clearly waned.

He even endured a rant from Onana during pre-season having made a poor pass which presented Borussia Dortmund with a chance to score. Everton are showing interest in the 30-year-old, while Tottenham Hotspur also appear to be keen on signing him and a potential move for Christensen is certainly bad news for Maguire.

The Dane has plenty of Premier League experience, making nearly 100 appearances in the competition during his stint at Chelsea and having won the Champions League while at the Blues, Ten Hag will be signing a player who seemingly has a winning mentality.

His 94% pass success rate was the highest out of any player across the Barcelona squad and this could give him an advantage if he joined United, with Ten Hag looking for his defenders to be able to play out effectively from the back.

andreas-christensen-premier-league-liverpool-transfers

Indeed, the 27-year-old ranks in the top 1% when compared to positional peers for pass success percentage (93.7%) and also ranks in the top 10% for progressive passes per 90 (4.95) and top 17% for progressive carries per 90 (0.99).

In comparison, Maguire relies on a more physical approach, failing to rank in the top 40% compared to positional peers for pass completion percentage (85.2%) and slipping outside the top 50% for progressive passes per 90 (3.09), a major drop-off from the figures Christensen registered.

It’s evident that the Barcelona star fits into Ten Hag’s ideologies a lot more than the former Leicester City defender, and he has even been dubbed “underrated” by his former Chelsea teammate Cesc Fabregas.

£43m might sound a lot on the surface, yet with the qualities he would bring to Ten Hag’s side, it is a no-brainer if United wish to secure more silverware this term.

Arsenal: "Very Popular" Star Agrees Move To Another Club

Arsenal winger Marquinhos is set for a medical at FC Nantes as the Gunners agree to a season-long loan without the option to buy, according to reports.

Who is leaving Arsenal?

So far, only a few players have departed the north London club, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Auston Trusty, Pablo Mari and long-serving midfielder Granit Xhaka standing out as the most noteworthy.

Mikel Arteta is in full preparation ahead of the new season, and after beating last season's treble-winners Man City in the Community Shield final on Sunday, they will be in good spirits.

Arsenal have attempted to back their manager with significant incomings this transfer window, having sealed deals for winger Kai Havertz, defender Jurrien Timber and central midfield star Declan Rice.

The aforementioned trio cost north of £200 million in a real statement of intent from Gunners sporting director Edu Gaspar, but to free up squad space and more funds, certain players will need to make way.

Brentford's David Raya, who could come in to replace Matt Turner, is also closing in on a move to Arsenal as the club seek to provide competition for current number one Aaron Ramsdale.

Read the latest Arsenal transfer news HERE…

In terms of more outgoings, the likes of Folarin Balogun and Nicolas Pepe continue to be linked with moves away, and the former will command a £50 million price tag.

Marquinhos, who found game time difficult to come by last season, is apparently nearing the exit door as Ligue 1 side FC Nantes close in on a temporary deal.

That is according to newspaper L'Equipe, via Get French Football News, who say both Arsenal and Nantes have agreed to a season-long loan without an option to buy for the 20-year-old.

The attacker has featured regularly in Arsenal pre-season, even grabbing an assist against the MLS all-stars, but it appears Arsenal believe a loan move away is best for his development this campaign.

The transfer could happen very quickly, as L'Equipe say Marquinhos' medical at Nantes will happen imminently.

Little is said after that in regards to a loan fee, the wage split or other factors concerning the temporary move.

Who is Marquinhos?

The South American starlet was signed from Sao Paulo on a long-term Arsenal contract last summer.

"We’re delighted to have completed the transfer with Sao Paulo," said Edu in 2022.

"As Marquinhos was a player we had been watching for a while. At 19, he is still very young, so he is a player for the future. We look forward to Marquinhos now joining us for pre-season, making his new home, and continuing to grow and develop with us.”

Marquinhos has represented Brazil at Under-16 and Under-17 level, with Arteta praising him as a "very popular" member of the squad.

Arsenal's boss said:

“He’s very popular, with no English, just with his smile and attitude. He has earned the respect and admiration of everybody here.

“It was a big step for him because he hasn’t played enough minutes with us but we were willing to give him the opportunity. I think he deserved it, I think he took it really well and he’s a player that needs to keep developing and in order to do that we need to give him opportunities.”

Rangers Could Secure "Sensational" Jack Heir

Glasgow Rangers have enjoyed a productive transfer window thus far, signing nine players, although Michael Beale could perhaps have a trick or two up his sleeve heading into its final two weeks.

It’s clear the manager is aiming to bring another defender to the club, with Harry Souttar and Jake Cooper among those who have been linked recently.

The Ibrox side have conceded three times across their four matches in the Premiership and Champions League so far this term, and it was a mix-up in the box which led to Kilmarnock scoring the winner in the opening league match.

But Beale could yet make a surprise signing, as the Gers have recently shown interest in QPR midfielder Sam Field ahead of a potential swoop.

Could Rangers sign Sam Field?

Football Insider has claimed that the Light Blues are ‘admirers’ of the player and Beale knows all about his strengths, having coached him during his brief spell in charge of the Championship side last season.

Burnley are also keen on signing him and Field may have to make a choice between Premier League football or winning trophies and potentially getting a chance to experience the Champions League.

Read the latest Rangers transfer news HERE…

The £7.3k-per-week brute is entering the final year of his contract, which could entice Beale to make a low bid in order to convince QPR to sell this summer.

Could Sam Field improve Rangers?

The Glasgow outfit have already bolstered their midfield options by signing Ecuador international Jose Cifuentes, and alongside Nicolas Raskin, the two players could form a key duo in the heart of the midfield.

Ryan Jack also signed a new one-year contract at the end of the season, and he still has plenty to offer.

Last season, the Scot had a pass completion percentage of 91%, which was the highest out of the Rangers squad in the league, while he also made 1.1 key passes per game and grabbed two assists – ranking in the top ten for both metrics, showing he could be an important part of the side.

However, this could be his final year at the club, and Field could be an ideal heir to the 31-year-old. The Englishman is more defensively minded, and compared to positional peers playing at a similar level, he ranks in the top 7% across the next eight leagues for interceptions, blocks, clearances, and aerials won per 90 over the previous 12 months (as per FBref).

Sam Field

These excellent defensive attributes would allow others in the midfield area to push further forward knowing that Field would cover well behind them, which could make him a wonderful signing.

Gareth Ainsworth, his current manager at QPR, lauded the 25-year-old for being “sensational” back in April, and he has continued to impress so far this campaign.

During his two Championship matches thus far, Field has already won 6.5 duels per game while averaging four interceptions per match, and it’s clear his strengths lie in gaining possession of the ball while showcasing an impressive physical presence.

Jack’s role at the Gers has reverted to more of a squad option, and by signing Field in the coming weeks, Beale could unearth a natural heir to the Scot.

Liverpool Eyeing Move For 27-Year-Old As Salah Replacement

Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane has emerged as a transfer target for Liverpool moving forward, with the date of his potential arrival revealed.

How old is Leroy Sane?

The former Manchester City man, who has scored four goals against the Reds, is now 27 years of age and has enjoyed an impressive career, even if he arguably hasn't quite reached the heights that some expected.

Sane is now plying his trade at Bayern Munich, having moved there in 2020 from City, scoring 40 goals and registering 37 assists in 135 appearances for the reigning Bundesliga champions. Overall in his career, he has won five league titles, outlining his pedigree, and he is also a 53-cap Germany international.

The winger's current deal at Bayern runs out in the summer of 2025, and although that is still a little while away, his value could begin to diminish the closer his contract comes to expiring. It could be that a move away comes to fruition next year, in order to avoid the risk of losing him on a free transfer the following summer.

When it comes to Liverpool, they find themselves in exactly the same position with Mohamed Salah, so they could also have a big decision to make this time next year, should there be interest in the Egyptian's services.

Soccer Football – Bundesliga – Bayern Munich v SC Freiburg – Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany – October 16, 2022 Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane celebrates scoring their third goal REUTERS/Lukas Barth DFL REGULATIONS PROHIBIT ANY USE OF PHOTOGRAPHS AS IMAGE SEQUENCES AND/OR QUASI-VIDEO.

Will Liverpool sign Leroy Sane?

According to Football Transfers, Sane is being eyed up as a possible replacement for Salah by FSG and Jurgen Klopp, should the latter leave Liverpool in the relatively near future:

"Liverpool have Juventus’ Federico Chiesa and Bayern Munich's Leroy Sane as possible Mohamed Salah replacements. We are told that Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan of both players as the Reds look to find a suitable successor to the club legend.

"The Egyptian has two years left on his current contract at Anfield and so Liverpool already considering targets to bring in for when he is eventually moved on.

"Sane, meanwhile, comes with bags of Premier League experience, having spent four years with Manchester City before joining Bayern in 2020 for an initial €45million with add-ons rising to €60m. The German’s xTV stands at €49.3m, while he also has just two years left on his current deal."

In truth, it is easy to envisage a scenario where Salah leaves Liverpool at the end of the season, with a move to Saudi Arabia feeling possible, given the money that may well be offered for him.

Should that happen, a truly elite wide player will be needed to replace him – hopefully, he stays for the rest of his career – but there are doubts over whether Sane, known for his lightning-fast speed, would be that man.

Read the latest Liverpool transfer news HERE…

By that point, the German would be 28, and while his natural quality is undeniable – Hansi Flick has called him "one of the best" n his position – he may not deliver the same level of end product as Salah, while his attitude has also been called into question in the past, including from Toni Kroos.

Liverpool should be looking to sign someone in their early to mid 20s to replace Salah, should the unthinkable happen, and Sane would feel like a risk, even though he has the quality to produce moments of sheer brilliance.
