These QPR fans have identified this great day as when it all started to go wrong

[ad_pod ]

QPR might have been plunged into difficulties both on and off the pitch in recent years but the club was in euphoria this time eight years ago, when they celebrated promotion to the Premier League under Neil Warnock on May 7.

The R’s stormed to the title in the 2010/11 season, taking an impressive 88 points, while Adel Taarabt was their top scorer with 19 to his name. Since, it’s been a steady decline for the W12 outfit – they were relegated two years later, rock bottom of the pile, before winning promotion again in 2013/14 and then being sent packing down to the second tier once again in the following season.

The Hoops have finished 19th this campaign having slid way down the table in 2019, and Steve McClaren was given the boot in April. Fortunately, caretaker boss John Eustace’s men were able to sign off for the season in style with a 2-1 win away at Sheffield Wednesday – they will be hoping to build on that glimpse of positivity next term.

Barnsley: Stendel should consider signing Liam Kelly if Adam Davies leaves this summer

It has a fantastic year to be a Barnsley supporter, hasn’t it?

After taking the risk to appoint Daniel Stendel as their new manager last summer, the Tykes’ fortunes have been completely transformed by the 46-year-old.

Having drilled into his players the style of football that he believed would be successful in League One, the German was proved to be correct as his side fought off competition from Portsmouth, Sunderland and Charlton Athletic to secure automatic promotion alongside Luton Town.

With Stendel facing a busy summer of transfer activity at Oakwell, he may have to find a replacement for goalkeeper Adam Davies.

According to the Yorkshire Post, the 26-year-old is reportedly on the radar of a whole host of clubs with Stoke City, Birmingham City, Hull City and Brentford all interested in signing him when his current deal with Barnsley runs out next month.

If the Tykes cannot agree new terms with Davies and subsequently have to let him go for free, they should consider swooping for one of Scottish football’s rising stars.

Following his move from Rangers to Livingston in 2018, Liam Kelly has emerged as a key player for West Lothian-based side with his outstanding performances in goal helping the club avoid relegation this season.

Although his contract with the Lions doesn’t run out until 2020 (via Transfermarkt), according to reports in the Scottish Sun, a clause in his current deal means that he could leave for as little as £50,000.

With Barnsley one of the sides reported to be interested in Kelly, he could turn out to be a cost-efficient replacement for Davies.

However, in order to secure his services for the 2019/20 campaign, the Tykes will have to fight off competition from the likes of Hamburg and Celtic who are both keeping tabs on the shot-stopper.

By beating these two footballing giants to Kelly’s signature, Barnsley will be sending out a signal of intent to the rest of the Championship that they mean business this year.

What do you think Tykes fans? Should Stendel bring in Kelly if Davies leaves this summer? Or is there another keeper that you think the German should be targeting? Let us know below.

Sheffield Wednesday: Bruce must consider cutting ties with Rhodes this summer

When Sheffield Wednesday revealed that they had completed the permanent signing of Jordan Rhodes from Middlesbrough in 2017, their supporters had every right to be excited.

Prolific at Championship level during his time at Blackburn Rovers, the 29-year-old forward seemingly had all the ingredients needed to become a hero at Hillsborough.

Yet having been signed with the expectation that he could be player to fire the Owls to the Premier League, Rhodes ultimately failed to deliver in his debut season as he only managed to score five league goals in 31 appearances as his side slumped to a 15th place finish in the second tier.

With then-manager Jos Luhukay unwilling to include the £4.5m-rated ace (via Transfermarkt) in his plans for the 2018/19 campaign, he decided to loan him out to Norwich City last summer.

Although the Canaries would end up lifting the Championship title, Rhodes’ contribution to this remarkable achievement was very minimal as the forward only found the back of the net on nine occasions in 40 games for Daniel Farke’s side.

Considering his lack of form for Norwich over the past year, it is somewhat of a surprise that the former Blackburn ace is being linked with a permanent switch to Carrow Road when the transfer window opens in July.

According to The Sun on Sunday (as quoted by HITC), Rhodes is reportedly at the top of the Canaries’ shopping list with Farke keen to deploy him in the Premier League next season.

If this is indeed the case, Bruce must not hesitate at the thought of selling Rhodes to the Norfolk-based outfit as it could be argued that he already has better striking options at the club in the form of Fernando Forestieri and Steven Fletcher.

By cashing in on the forward, the 58-year-old could use the money to strengthen his squad ahead of the Owls’ eighth consecutive Championship campaign.

What do you think Wednesday fans? Should Bruce sell Rhodes this summer? Or does the forward deserve another chance to impress for your club? Let us know below.

Please no: Tottenham fans tell club to forget summer move for Malcom

[ad_pod ]

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans are desperate for their team to avoid a move for Barcelona attacker Malcom in this summer’s transfer window.

Spanish publication Sport have claimed that Borussia Dortmund want to sign Malcom ahead of the 2019-2020 campaign.

However, the same report has said that Tottenham’s interest ‘is known’.

The 22-year-old arrived at Barcelona last summer off the back of a 12-goal season with Bordeaux.

It would be fair to say that the winger has struggled to make his mark at Camp Nou, though, scoring just once in 15 La Liga appearances.

Malcom has been handed the chance to impress in recent weeks with Ousmane Dembele and Luis Suarez both on the sidelines.

However, the Brazilian has found it really difficult to contribute.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham make a move, but it seems that the majority of the English club’s fans do not want the attacker.

Alberth Elis would be a really good signing for Celtic this summer

Celtic have enjoyed yet another season of success and will look to carry that winning mentality onwards to the next campaign.

Whether they’ll still be managed by Neil Lennon remains to be seen, but Celtic are serial winners, nevertheless, and will continue to be so under any managerial regime.

The real test for them is finding talent in the transfer market that will help them achieve a place among Europe’s top teams.

They want to become an outfit capable of fighting in the Champions League and for that to happen, recruitment is key.

Celtic undoubtedly already have a good group of forwards, but MLS star Alberth Elis (linked with the club on May 8th in the Scottish Sun) could bring something completely different to Celtic Park.

Elis (who is valued at £2.2 million on Transfermarkt) is a player that Celtic have admired for a while now and this summer could be when the two finally join forces.

Currently playing for Houston Dynamo in the MLS, Elis has enjoyed great success in front of goal which is surely what attracted Celtic to him in the first place.

Since the MLS restarted in March, Elis has provided four goals and six assists in 10 games, a great record regardless of the league’s quality.

At the age of 23, Elis will be hoping to reach new heights sooner rather than later, which is something a move to Celtic could help him do.

With the chance to play in Europe and fight for silverware, there is nothing that is off-putting about a move to Celtic for Elis and it’s an opportunity he should grab with two hands.

Do you agree Celtic should sign Alberth Elis… Join the discussion and let us know!

Sign the contract Toby: Tottenham fans want positive update on Alderweireld future

[ad_pod ]

The 2019 Champions League final could prove to be Toby Alderweireld’s final match for Tottenham Hotspur.

And it would be some way for the centre-back to bow out if he helped Mauricio Pochettino’s side overcome Liverpool in what is set up to be a fascinating final.

Alderweireld has a contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until next summer.

However, a £25m release clause will soon kick into action and Manchester United have been linked with a move.

You do get the feeling that if Alderweireld was going to sign a new contract with Spurs then it would have happened by now.

Winning the Champions League might change his mind although it could also work the other way and see the Belgian leave on a high.

The Spurs fans have made another plea for the 30-year-old to pen a fresh deal but it might fall on deaf ears once again.

I would go all out for him: Everton fans respond to Cengiz Under speculation

[ad_pod ]

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Everton have had a €28m(£24.87m) offer for Roma attacker Cengiz Under rejected by the Italian giants.

Under scored six times and registered 11 assists in 33 appearances for his Serie A outfit during the 2018-19 campaign.

The 21-year-old is also an 18-time Turkey international and has impressed many with his performances over the last 12 months.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Everton launched a €28m bid for the attacker but Roma were quick to turn it down.

The Merseyside club’s fans have been on social media offering their views on Under, debating whether it would be worth going back in for him.

Watch the best fails from the world of indoor football in the video below…

And it would be fair to say that there are a lot of differing opinions.

Whilst there are those who rate the versatile winger, others are underwhelmed by the thought of Under arriving in this summer’s transfer window.

Alexis Sanchez shares Copa America preparations on Instagram

[ad_pod ]

He may not have had the most enjoyable of times at Old Trafford, but when Alexis Sanchez puts on the red of Chile, he turns into a different animal.

The Manchester United star has long been the star man of his country’s successes in recent years, and will once again be expected to lead the nation for this summer’s Copa America.

The Chilean took to

/ByjNEqJDUt-/” data-lasso->Instagram to post a picture of him in training in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where the tournament will be head, and looks in fine shape ahead of the tournament.

The 30-year-old has endured a torrid time with injuries since joining United in January 2018, and has come under heavy criticism from Red Devils fans for his poor form.

Reports in recent weeks have suggested that Sanchez could be a target for Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid side, with the former Arsenal man seemingly on his way out of Manchester this summer.

However, a return to form with Chile, and a good showing in the Copa America, could be Sanchez’s last chance to potentially salvage his career in the Premier League, and if he can keep fully fit, then there could well be a way back for the forward.

Arsenal fans excited as Carrasco reportedly agrees terms with Gunners

[ad_pod ]

After the doom and gloom of their embarrassing Europa League final defeat to Chelsea, the summer transfer window has taken on extra importance for Arsenal and their future.

Reports have suggested that the Gunners will only have around £40m before sales to spend, and with the market getting crazier by the year, that just doesn’t seem anywhere near enough.

However, according to a huge update from Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, Unai Emery’s side are “finalising the last details” of a deal to bring long-term target Yannick Carrasco to the Emirates, and the Belgian has already agreed personal terms with the club.

After hearing the news, Gunners fans took to social media to reveal their delight at being close to making their first signing of the summer, and declared their satisfaction at seeing someone of Carrasco’s class potentially join.

Arsenal were woefully short of real quality in wide areas last season, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi both combining for a total of 12 goals across all competitions last season.

Indeed, as well as seeing Carrasco as a major upgrade on their current options, some supporters of the north London side pointed back to the 25-year-old’s starring performance for AS Monaco at the Emirates in a Champions League tie in 2015, when he scored in a 3-1 win for the French outfit.

With a deal inching ever closer, check out some of the excited reaction of Arsenal fans on Twitter below:

Scout Report: Who is Rangers target George Edmundson?

[ad_pod ]

Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are looking to sign George Edmundson from Oldham Athletic, with Sky Sports reporting that the youngster handed in a transfer request last month. So, what do we know about the English defender?

Who is he?

Edmundson is 21 years of age, standing at 6 ft 3, and is currently playing his football in League Two for Oldham.

The Latics’ number four has been out on loan at Ramsbottom United, Alfreton Town and AFC Fylde, but in 2018 Edmundson returned to Boundary Park to become a regular in the line-up. The club did get relegated from League One during his time in the first team, however.

He’s now been linked with a move to Rangers as a reward for his performances, though Derby County are also said to be interested in signing the centre-half.

Former Latics Manager Frankie Bunn commented on the youngster when he signed a new deal with Oldham last year saying: “It’s a good reward for an up-and-coming player with potential, he’s been excellent since we’ve been here.

“His enthusiasm, dedication and playing ability has warranted this new deal.

“For other youngsters at the club they can aspire to what George has done, he has worked hard to do it.

“I have told him he can’t rest on his laurels, he’s not the finished article yet and there is more to come.”

How does he play?

Edmundson comes in the mould of many young, modern centre-backs.

He’s a towering figure with a stocky build as well, making him very difficult to dispossess or to win a 50-50 challenge against. Perhaps people would assume that this takes away from his ball skill, but that would be very incorrect. In fact, the defender is very comfortable playing out from the back and picking out clever passes into midfield, and has even bagged himself the odd goal and a few assists as well.

He’s strong in the air and uses his pace effectively as well. It’s no surprise he’s being looked at by one of the top clubs in Scottish football, and Gerrard may feel he can nurture him into a more mature centre-back for the future.

2018-19 in numbers

Edmundson has registered some very impressive stats over his previous campaign with Oldham. The youngster made 45 starts for the League Two side, scoring two goals and even securing five assists – a phenomenal tally for a young centre-back.

His performances have earned him a place in The Guardian’s team of the season as well as the official EFL’s League Two team of the year, which is an impressive achievement considering the youngster played in a side that finished 14th and conceded 60 goals.

Anyone enjoyed a similar path?

James Tarkowski: Once a young defender at Oldham Athletic, much like Edmundson, but now he’s enjoying his football in the Premier League with Burnley. He’s earned England caps as well since signing for the Clarets, and remains an inspiration for players in the lower leagues hoping to make it at the highest level of English football.

When will we see him?

Edmundson is being hotly monitored by Rangers, but the youngster has also attracted Derby, so it remains to be seen where he’ll move this summer, if he does at all. For now though, he’s still playing his football in England, though he may have his big move to Scotland confirmed if Gerrard and his staff can agree a deal to bring the youngster to Ibrox.
