تحدث ديتمار هامان لاعب ليفربول السابق حول فكرة استغناء آرني سلوت مدرب الفريق، عن محمد صلاح في التشكيل الأساسي بعد تراجع مستوى الفريق.

وسجل صلاح خمس أهداف في جميع المسابقات هذا الموسم، وتراجع ترتيب ليفربول في جدول الدوري الانجليزي الممتاز بعد أن خسر نصف مبارياته الـ12 حتى الآن.

وقال هامان في تصريحات نشرتها “ليفربول إيكو” عن صلاح :”هل يحتاج آرني سلوت للتفكير في استبعاد محمد صلاح؟ بالتأكيد، إذا كان يعتقد أن هذا هو القرار الصحيح وهناك أسباب لذلك”.

وأضاف: “السؤال الوحيد هو، هل تعتقد أن استبعاده سيحسن الأمور؟ لست متأكداً تماماً لكن من الواضح أن عليه أن يفعل شيء الآن، لأنهم لديهم كثير من اللاعبين في الوقت الحالي الذين يرغبون في اللعب بالكرة ولا يقومون بالأعمال الشاقة”.

وواصل: “يبدو أن توازن الفريق وديناميكيته غير متوازنين، إذا قرر استبعاد صلاح من الفريق فإنه عليه اتخاذ القرار، ربما كنت سأدعمه لو فعل ذلك”.

واختتم هامان عن سلوت: “لو كان ما حدث هذا الموسم في الموسم الماضي، عندما انضم سلوت لتدريب النادي لما كان يشغل وظيفته الآن، لكنه يملك رصيد كبير وهذا أمر مستحق لأنه فاز بالدوري، لكن ذلك أصبح من الماضي بعد أن كان أداء الفريق رائع معه، لقد تفوقوا وهذا أمر لم يتوقعه أحد، عليك أن تفكر في المستقبل وما تريده هو التقدم، إن لم ترى تقدماً فلا أعتقد أن الموسم الماضي سينقذه”.

Manchester United have now made a U-turn and made contact with Casemiro’s agent over a new contract, and the midfielder’s stance on signing a new deal has been revealed.

Kobbie Mainoo has been unable to get a look-in as of late, with Ruben Amorim predominantly opting to give the former Real Madrid man the nod in central midfield, alongside Bruno Fernandes, who has been utilised in a deeper role this season.

Consequently, it is now looking increasingly likely that Mainoo will depart in the January transfer window, with the youngster potentially in line to follow Scott McTominay to Napoli, despite the fact Amorim wants to keep hold of him.

With the central midfielder’s place in the World Cup squad at stake, it is understandable that he is looking to receive more game time ahead of the summer, but Amorim is in a tricky position, given that Casemiro has been indispensable this term.

Recently, the 33-year-old has even been compared to United icon Nemanja Vidic, and it has subsequently emerged that he could be rewarded with a new contract as a result of his fine form, despite widespread reports suggesting United have been hesitant to offer him fresh terms.

According to a report from United In Focus, Man United have now performed a U-turn and contacted the midfielder’s agent about a contract extension, with transfer expert Graeme Bailey revealing Amorim’s stance on one of his star players signing a new deal.

Bailey said: “I’m told Amorim would be open to him staying, and if Casemiro is ready to take a drop in salary and work with United on a deal, it is not inconceivable that he stays.”

Not only is the manager open to keeping hold of the veteran midfielder, but the player himself is also personally receptive to the idea of remaining at Old Trafford, and positive talks have already been held.

The ex-Real Madrid star has certainly turned a corner since Jamie Carragher infamously told him he was finished at the top level and to move to Saudi Arabia or the MLS.

Indeed, the 80-time Brazil international has only missed one Premier League match this season, which was due to suspension, amassing three goals and one assist in his opening ten matches.

Of course, the five-time Champions League winner is more well-known for his stellar defensive attributes, and his ability to win back possession has been on display regularly over the past year, averaging 4.09 tackles per 90, which places the maestro in the top 1% of midfielders.

Consequently, it would make sense to offer Casemiro a new deal, but it would have to be at reduced wages, given his age, with the central midfielder currently the highest-earning player in the squad.

Despite the Dutchman’s struggles in front of goal, Ruben Amorim wants to keep hold of him, as he values the forward’s versatility, but the manager is at odds with the club, who are open to sanctioning a January departure for a fee of around £35m.

Aston Villa are named as potential suitors for Zirkzee, alongside a whole host of other clubs from England and Italy, meaning United will have a decision to make in the January transfer window.

Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior may be reluctant to part ways with the 23-year-old, given just how highly he spoke about his talisman earlier this season, saying: “He is a top player, we’ve done quite a bit of work with him during the pre-season to try to make him run less.”

The French club are under no immediate pressure to cash-in, with Panichelli contracted until 2030, but it could be worth Man United testing the waters with an offer, considering Zirkzee’s struggles.

وأفادت “ميرور” أن صلاح ربما لم يُعجب بقرار استبعاده، ومن الطبيعي أيضًا أن يشعر بأن الانتقادات الموجهة إليه كانت مبالغًا فيها، وهو محق في ذلك.

وذكرت أن أداء صلاح لم يكن رائعًا هذا الموسم، لكن الأمر لا يتعلق به فقط، بل بفريق ليفربول ككل، ويتضح ذلك على سبيل المثال في أداء ألكسندر إيزاك وفلوريان فيرتز ومعانتهما منذ الانضمام للريدز.

وبعد الأداء الأكثر توازنًا لليفربول أمام وست هام، أصبح من الصعب توقّع عودة صلاح إلى التشكيل الأساسي في المباراة أمام سندرلاند، رغم تصريح سلوت: “صلاح سيظل لاعبًا ذا مستقبل كبير مع النادي”.

وأشارت الصحيفة إلى أن صلاح بدا أخيرًا كلاعب في الثالثة والثلاثين من عمره يحتاج إلى راحة، وهي ليست راحة من ضغوط هذا الموسم، بل راحة من ضغوط مسيرة حافلة بالنجاحات.

وتابعت موضحة أن راحة صلاح ليست من 18 مباراة للفريق هذا الموسم، بل 419 مباراة خاضها مع النادي على مدار ثمانية مواسم كاملة، بالإضافة إلى 109 مباراة مع منتخب مصر.

وأكملت مؤكدة أن صلاح يستحق وزنه ذهباً لليفربول، ليس فقط بسبب أهدافه وتمريراته الحاسمة ولكن بفضل جاهزيته، خيث غاب عن المباريات بسبب الإصابة أو المرض في 38 مباراة فقط ، ثلاثة منها بسبب فيروس كورونا، في رقم استثنائي يعكس قوته البدنية ومواظبته.

ومع عودته بعد كأس الأمم الإفريقية مع منتخب مصر، سيكون التحدي أمام سلوت هو كيفية إدارة جهد صلاح وتوظيفه في النصف الثاني من الموسم، خاصة في ظل تضاؤل فرص الدفاع عن لقب الدوري ورغبة المدرب في تفادي تكرار أخطاء عدم التدوير التي ندم عليها في دوري الأبطال الموسم الماضي.

وأتمت “ميرور” تقريرها موضحة أن المرحلة الأهم لصلاح هذا الموسم قد تكون في دوري أبطال أوروبا، وبالتأكيد سيعود المصري إلى الواجهة، ولن يبقى لاعبًا مميزًا مثله خارج المشهد كثيرًا.

Mitchell Marsh will retire from the Sheffield Shield at the end of this season, meaning in all likelihood he has played his final first-class match for Western Australia, but the door is ajar to add to his 46 Test caps in the Ashes.Marsh made a rare Shield appearance for WA last week against Victoria at the MCG where he scored 4 and 9. But his involvement in the T20 World Cup, where he will captain Australia through February and the start of March, will overlap with the resumption of the competition after the BBL, then he will be part of the IPL with Lucknow Super Giants.”It has been an honour to play Sheffield Shield cricket for WA,” Marsh, who made his Shield debut as an 18-year-old said in a statement. “Right now I am deeply committed to the group and the [Perth] Scorchers. Playing for WA has been a huge part of my life and I plan to give back in any way possible long into the future.”Marsh was an outside chance of featuring in the Ashes if there had been injuries or loss of form, particularly if things had started badly for Australia, on the back of an impressive run of performances in recent ODI and T20I series with the selectors valuing his skills against pace bowling.The final part of the WA Cricket statement said: “The Australian white-ball captain remains open to the prospect of playing Test cricket.”Australia coach Andrew McDonald has previously said they would be willing to pick Marsh for Tests without him playing red-ball cricket and confirmed on Tuesday that Marsh remained available for this season although suggested it would not be the case beyond that.”He is available for Test match selection, which is exciting for us,” McDonald said. “I don’t want to put words in Mitch’s mouth, but I assume that if he’s retired from first-class cricket, that he would potentially look at Test cricket retirement, also at the end of the season. Como a aposta em Carpini decepcionou, Muricy teve menos voz ativa na escolha do substituto, e o São Paulo recolocou Zubeldía na pauta. O argentino desta vez aceitou passar pela entrevista, foi bem avaliado e agilizou o fechamento da negociação. Ele estava desempregado e, anteriormente, esperava propostas da Europa, que não chegaram.

After deciding to send infielder DJ LeMahieu to the bench earlier this week, the New York Yankees announced on Wednesday that they have designated him for assignment. The shocking move puts an end to his seven-season tenure in the Bronx.

LeMahieu responded "O.K." to the news, according to manager Aaron Boone—who also noted that the 36-year-old did not ask for his release. A three-time All-Star, he had been slashing .266/.338/.336 with two home runs and 12 RBIs this season. A logjam in the infield, however, seemingly forced New York's hand.

Given that LeMahieu has been a staple in this era of Yankee baseball, the MLB was understandably stunned by the news. Here's a look at some of the reactions that came in across social media:

LeMahieu signed a six-year extension with New York in 2021 and is still owed $22 million through next season.

Every spring, all across the country, kids pick up a baseball bat or a glove for the first time and begin to dream.

Facing off against a pitching machine, they imagine themselves playing in Game 7 of the World Series, with the chance to hit the home run that decides a championship. Shagging fly balls in the outfield, they envision the feeling of securing an out that saves their season.

On Saturday, those dreams became real for about 20 members of the Dodgers and Blue Jays.

Toronto entered the ninth inning holding a 4–3 lead and needing just three outs to secure their first championship since 1993. Closer Jeff Hoffman, who had come in to secure the last out of the eighth inning, was back on the mound to finish things out.

It was Miguel Rojas that first got to live the dream. With the Dodgers down to their final two outs, Rojas worked the count full before smacking a home run to left field to tie the game and suck every ounce of air out of the Rogers Centre.

Hoffman got out of the inning from there, bringing the Blue Jays to the plate with a chance to walk things off for a title.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. led off the inning batting against Blake Snell, and for a moment it felt like he might just finish things on his own. Instead, he hit a fly out to center. But after a Bo Bichette single was followed by a walk and a HBP, the bases were loaded with one out.

Bichette was pulled for pinch runner Isiah Kiner-Falefa, as he’s still somewhat hobbled coming back from injury. The Dodgers pulled Snell and put Game 6 starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto back on the mound.

Yamamoto delivered to Daulton Varsho, who smacked a grounder to second base. The ball was fielded by Rojas, who briefly double-clutched before firing a bullet home to catcher Will Smith. Smith’s foot briefly came off of the bag, but he got it back down for the force out before Kiner-Falefa could slide in safe.

It was this close folks.

Two outs.

Next up it was Ernie Clement, who with his third hit of the day in his previous at-bat had set a record with 30 hits this postseason, more than any player in MLB history. Now he needed one more.

Clement gave the first pitch he saw a ride to left center. With the outfield in, left fielder Kiké Hernández was sprinting backwards to get under the ball, but center fielder Andy Pages, who had just been put into the game as a defensive sub for the Dodgers, would meet him in the space and ultimately came down with the catch after a heart-stopping collision to get out of the inning.

It was the first live ball he had touched all night.

And with that, Game 7 of the World Series was on to extras.

Both teams failed to get a run across in the 10th. Last time these sides went to extras, we played into the 18th inning. Now it’s happening with a championship on the line.

How can you not be romantic about baseball?

If you’re going to make history, you might as well do it in style.

On Friday, Yankees slugger Aaron Judge took over sole possession of fourth place on the franchise’s all-time home run list, breaking a tie with legend Joe DiMaggio with career dinger No. 362. Judge had just matched DiMaggio yesterday, with two home runs against the Tigers.

Facing off against the Red Sox on Friday, Judge decided to one-up himself in terms of showmanship, smashing his tie-breaking home run all the way over the Green Monster and out of Fenway Park.

Look at this tater.

Judge currently sits at 362 home runs in pinstripes. The only three players in front of him are all legends—Lou Gerhig (493), Mickey Mantle (536) and Babe Ruth (659).

While it might take a while for Judge to jump up to the next spot on the list, we’re undoubtedly in for plenty more unbelievable highlights between now and then.
